St. Paul FSC Pre-School Skate

Daytime Classes Designed for Pre-schoolers

St. Paul FSC’s Pre-School Skate class is designed to help the preschool-age skater develop preliminary coordination and strength to maneuver on the ice. This class will teach fundamental skating skills to pre-schoolers, so skaters feel comfortable and become independent on the ice. Classes are 30 minutes in length.

Summer Class Schedule and Time

Step 3: Now that you are registered here are some tips for a successful class.

The First Lesson Day

  • Please arrive 15 minutes early to get skates laced and skaters prepared to take the ice.

  • Pick up your skater’s name tag at the Welcome Desk.

  • Move to the seating area surrounding the ice to put on skates.

  • Skaters will meet in the area corresponding to the color on his/her name tag.

  • The first class meeting will include an evaluation to ensure proper level.

  • Depending on registration classes maybe divided by age and/or ability within the level.

  • Class size will not exceed 12.

  • Intro to Skating and Basic 1 will meet off-ice for the first class. Look for signs to direct you to the correct location or check with the Welcome Desk.

Equipment

  • Skates: well-fitting figure skates or hockey skates. No double runners please.

  • Rentals skates are available at Highland Arena only.

  • Helmet- very strongly recommended for beginners.

  • Warm clothes: layers that are easy-to-move in and gloves. Winter jacket and snow pants work great for beginners.  The arena is cold so dress accordingly, parents too.

  • Hockey skaters should be in full equipment.

Health Precautions

  • If your skater does not feel well and/or has a fever please, do not attend class.

  • Everyone in building must wear a mask per Ramsey County mandate. This may be updated, and you will be notified of any changes.

Reminders

  • Please bring your name tag to class each week.

  • Only registered skaters are allowed on the ice.

  • Please watch from the comfort of the bleachers or lobby. Player boxes are reserved for skaters and equipment.
