SPFSC’s Summer Skating program is designed for skaters who have been enrolled in Learn to Skate, Academy and/or Preschool Skate to continue learning and developing their skating throughout the Summer! New skaters are always welcome too! The goal with this program is keep skaters progressing quickly in a fun and engaging class!
How It Works:
Classes for skaters are offered Monday-Thursday throughout the summer at two different times per day: 3:15-4:00 pm and 6:15-7:00 pm. That is 8 class opportunities a week!! You can even choose to attend more than one class per week to really improve (and to have a lot more fun too)!
Parents should sign their skater up for the class day and time that they think their skater will probably come to the most. This helps us figure out how many skaters are coming for each class and skaters will be grouped with other skaters about at their level. This also helps us figure out how many coaches are needed!
There are 12 weeks of Summer Skating. When you register for classes, your skater will receive a punch card for 12 classes . Every time your skater attends class, one of their classes will be punched. ALL CLASSES MUST BE USED BY THURSDAY AUGUST 30TH, 2019!
Summer Skating Packages
Skate more than once a week! Skate twice or three times per week with one of our packages! Skaters will really improve this way, and parents receive a significant discount with these packages! Consider skating more than once a week if your skaters is really trying to learn more and wants to improve rapidly!
Make-Up Classes/Switching Classes
Summer is busy! With vacations, camps, and other summer activities that come up, sometimes you may miss a class. If you do, no big deal! Simply come to one of the other SEVEN classes we offer each week! Or make up the class later in the summer~ just remember, all missed classes have to be used by THURSDAY AUGUST 29th, 2019!
This program is truly designed to work for you! Encouraging skaters to progress and to have fun skating is our main goal, so to do that our summer program is very flexible, and please attend as many classes as you can! Just as a general FYI, here is how people typically use their Summer Skating Classes:
The traditional way~ as mentioned above. Enroll in a particular day and time
and then come to alternate days/times when you need to make-up a class throughout the summer!
If you know you can only attend classes for a certain period of time (i.e.
only in July and August since you are out of town in June), then use your twelve classes in a way that works for you~ attend multiple classes per week for the time you are available or even attend class everyday~ make the classes work for you and just be sure to use up all 12 classes by AUGUST 29TH!
Why this Way?
By offering 8 classes per week and a flexible make-up class/class attendance policy, skaters are given more options to skate! These options help skaters to progress, and when skaters are progressing, it is very motivating and keeps skating fun for them! We are hoping all of our options will accommodate anyone’s schedule or for anything else that comes up!
Learn to Skate Kids
You can still earn your badges in the summer! Your teacher will know what level you are in and will work on those skills with you throughout the summer! They will be able to test you for your level whenever they think you are ready or for sure at the end of summer!
The St. Paul Figure Skating Club is one of the few club's in the country that has one of the most recent innovations in figure skating technology-the Spinner! Basically, it looks like a plate in the floor that can rotate at different speeds. It is a great way to work on spinning & rotating without the ice, and it is SUPER FUN!
Skaters will be given the opportunity to practice on the spinner throughout the summer~ specific class times will be available closer to summer, and there will be various times throughout the summer skaters will be invited on the spinner.
